So bloody excited… I can’t think of a better way to explain how I felt when Kelly and Alex told me about their secret Manchester elopement. I mean, just that word… secret… gave me butterflies. Kelly did even hilariously describe the day as a ‘shotgun’ wedding, since shes only a few weeks from giving birth to their second baby!
I love to be part of a secret, and this was a great one. This gorgeous pair didn’t want any fuss. The idea of a day all about them was just NOT COOL. So at 9.30am on a Thursday, with just their mums and their gorgeous little boy, Malachy, in tow, their said their i-dos in a totally private, unassuming ceremony at Sale Town Hall. Kelly’s beautiful ruby red hair and red rose bouquet (that she made herself with flowers from Tesco!) contrasted perfectly with her teal wedding dress, and the boys looked dapper in their matching suits- they all looked fab!
The canal side at Sale was the perfect place to explore after their intimate ceremony (so intimate I wasn’t allowed in!). We took a stroll past the barges and the early morning runners, the commuters on their way to work- I lost track of how many congratulations they received on the way! The canal side is the perfect mix of nature and urban- Malachy loved spotting the ducks and swans.
Of course, as it’s my favourite thing to do during couple portraits, I sought out some fab graffiti, whilst Malachy managed to get very muddy clambering on the old boating equipment! I loved the Hacienda-esque black and yellow stripes under the bridge too! Very Manchester! Thank you Kelly and Alex for including me in your secrets- I loved every minute. I hope you enjoy your photos!
If you’re planning an elopement, or an intimate wedding, I would just LOVE to be there. Send me an email and let’s chat about your plans!
