In general, I’m quite chilled. I don’t panic, or stress. But when I saw the weather forecast for Saturday night through to sunday morning, the day before Sophie and Adam’s F**CKING AWESOME alternative DIY wedding, I have to say I had a little fleeting moment of worry! Not wanting to be late, or worse, miss the whole bloody day, I called the wonderful staff at Moat House Acton Trussell, and they found me a last minute room. So late on Saturday I set off to Staffordshire, blizzards following me all the way down, so that I could reassure myself I would make it in time. And wow, I’m glad I did! The weather didn’t let up overnight, and sure enough we awoke to a blanket of the white stuff in all it’s beautiful (and freezing cold!) glory.

But, did the bride and groom bat an eyelid? Did they buggery. Were they bothered that their spring wedding became a winter one? Were they heck! They took it all in their super-chilled stride, even allowing me to convince them to have outdoor couples shots in the Baltic weather. Never once did they complain, and Sophie, in her stunning Vivienne Westwood gown and heels never so much as warmed her shoulders under a blanket or coat. Such rockstars! The results were stunning, and, panic and all, it was SOOOO worth it.

Their INCREDIBLE, colourful Disney themed winter wedding day was held at Moat House Acton Trussell in Penkridge, Staffordshire. The clever pair’s DIY decor was amazing- they spent months collecting teacups and saucers, vintage books and colourful buttons to decorate their tables and ceremony room with stunning results, travelling all over the country to collect bargains bought on eBay and Facebook Marketplace. Their tables were named after their favourite Disney movies, and everything was so personal, really reflecting their quirky personalities. They totally planned their day their way which I LOVE!

Sophie and Adam have had a crazy year whilst planning their wedding, buying a new home and starting their own hair Salon, Black Sheep Hair in Sutton Coldfield. Their colleagues, of course, did all of the wedding party’s hair on the morning of the wedding too! How bloody awesome does everyone look please?? More friends of theirs, The Blackjacks, a skiffle band from York, entertained the evening guests with their amazing  jazz, blues, folk and American folk music. They had the most incredible wedding cake, decorated with sweets, cakes and donuts, and Sophie’s incredible flowers were beautifully colourful- both made by local makers, Mischief Cake Designs, Cannock and Lavender Florists, Penkridge. The couple’s quirky style was stamped all over their quirky winter wedding, and it really was an awesome day. I could honestly go on and on, waxing lyrical about how much I loved the whole day, and this gorgeous couple. Thank you so much Mr & Mrs Murphy- BIG HUGE CONGRATUALTIONS TO YOU!!!
