Colouful Wedding Outfits
Gone are the days where you HAVE TO wear white to your wedding. If you’re bold enough, the world of beautiful, bold gowns is your oyster! If you’re not brave enough for a full colour dress, you could always add colourful details, like Sarah’s gorgeous handmade gown below. A colourful veil, bright shoes, rainbow petticoat or bold necklace are great options too. Go bold, have fun, and inject some fun and colour into your dress. Check out my blog post on Alternative Wedding Dresses here.
Don’t forget the menfolk too- there’s a whole range of colourful jackets, ties, pocket squares and suits available too. ASOS is a great starting point, or how about a custom piece to match your individual style?
Technicolour Bridesmaids Dresses?
One easy way of injecting lots of colour into your day, is to paint your bridesmaids with a rainbow! Popping them in mismatched dresses in different colours or tones creates a real colourful impact, especially when paired with bright shoes and bouquets. It also means that each of them can wear a dress that suits their style and shape, and makes them feel super comfy.
Your wedding flowers are the easiest and probably the most gorgeous way of channelling your rainbow wedding theme dream. Opt for bold blooms in a variety of the brightest shades. Talk to your fabulous florist- they’ll be able to recommend the best seasonal flowers for the biggest impact. Of course, Summer will be the best time of year for colourful posies, but there are great options for any season. In Winter, you could even go for baked/ dried flowers like these from Happy Blossoms, or a bouquet alternative made of felt or paper- Etsy is a good bet for these!
Colourful Wedding Styling
The world is your oyster here… from colourful table linens, bright vases, favours and place cards, to jewel-coloured lanterns, ribbons and flags- the only rule here is, the more colour the better!! If you have lots of creative ideas, but lack the time, skill or know-how, don’t be afraid to hire a stylist to bring your rainbow ideas to life. The stunning styling below is by Fleur De Lace, at the Killer Filler Workshop in London.
Bright and Beautiful Details
When you’re planning a colourful wedding, it’s all in the details! Painted signs, fun garden games and of course, oodles of bunting and streamers add lots of fun and colour without too much effort. Don’t be afraid to get flex your DIY skills either- whether its tying ribbon chair backs or expertly folding 1000 origami paper cranes, there are so many ways you craft stunning props and accessories to brighten up your wedding.
Whether it’s an incredible ceremony backdrop (which can also double up to add colour behind your top table too, or as a photo backdrop later!), or fabulous colourful graffiti as a backdrop to your photos, bold backdrops are always a winner! You can bet your bottom dollar that if I’m shooting your day, I already know the spots that have the best bold backdrops for your couples portraits!
Colourful Wedding Cakes
Who says your wedding cake has to be traditional and boring? It’s a fantastic way of making a fun and colourful statement- you could even ask your guests to make their favourite dessert and create a bright, bold ‘wedding bake-off style’ dessert table! I just love the cute Lego topper on Maddie and Mike’s Rice Krispie Wedding Cake below, and Ard Bakery’s incredible gravity defying cakes are too gorgeous for words!
Add crazy colours with Smoke Bombs!
I bloody love a good, colourful smoke bomb photo. Whether you use them for cool bridal party photos, like Ruth & Bailey below, or as a fun addition to your couple’s portraits, the colour they create is incredible, and they’re such good fun to use too!
Colourful Wedding Photography
Of course, the best way to capture all of the colour and joy you have planned for your wedding day is to hire a colourful wedding photographer! I absolutely adore colour and love to shoot colourful weddings. My editing style showcases all those gorgeous shades and tones and helps tell the story of your day, full or fun, joy and allllll the colour. I don’t believe in desaturating colours or dulling greens- I want your images to sing in all their colourful glory. So if that sounds like your bag, head over to tell me all of your colourful plans (and if there’s a Pinterest board I can ogle, send me a link, y’hear?).
