Fun Irish Wedding in Liverpool

Liver building Wedding Photographer

I love shooting weddings at The Venue at The Royal Liver- who wouldn’t enjoy photographing in a stunning iconic landmark? It’s dockside location is perfect for relaxed Liverpool weddings, and with a stunning view over the Mersey, you couldn’t really ask for more.

Ruth and Bailey got married on in October last year. I just love these two- such a perfect pair! I’d had the pleaseure of spending an afternoon with them in the summer, for their engagement shoot at Sefton Park Palm House, so it was so good to see them again! They had travelled over from Ireland to get married in Liverpool, a city that they have absolutely fallen in love with. When Ruth enquired with me, she told me:

“We live in Northern Ireland but got engaged in Liverpool on the big wheel at midnight on New Year’s Eve 2017. We just knew we had to go back to Liverpool to get married and The Liver Building is so iconic. We also love the idea of Baltic Triangle graffiti walls in our photos, and a trip to the carousel on the Albert Dock would be a dream!”

So of course that’s just what we did!

Getting Ready

I met Ruth and her lovely Bridesmaids in their apartment as they got ready, After lots of pampering, giggling and a glass of fizz or two, we headed over to The Liver Building in the gorgeous Sandy, the Campervan! Not to be outdone, Bailey arrived in an INCREDIBLE ode to the Beatles, a beautiful Psychedellic Rolls Royce! Ruth and Bailey are big Beatles fans, and it was a fab personal touch.

A Stunning Liverpool Wedding Venue

Liverpool was a real hero of Ruth and Bailey’s day. Their stunning table names and table plan, made by Elite Invite showcased their favourite Scouse spots, which I absolutely loved.

The Ceremony itself was gorgeous. Though both Ruth and Bailey were super nervous, they made it through brilliantly, and looked absolutely gorgeous to boot in their outfits from Elody Bridal and Red Groomswear. A really poignant moment was Bailey recording the exact time they said their I Do’s, ready to add it to the Liver Building Clock on his Liverpool/ Beatles themed tattoo- so cool!

After mingling with the guests outside, and a visit from an awesome mod motorbike(!) we headed off to the Baltic Triangle for portraits with the bridal party!

Colourful Portraits

The Baltic Triangle is just the best place for portraits! For a colour addict like me, the street art is an absolute dream! Only a short camper van ride from The Liver Building, we had a wild time exploring the colourful Baltic Triangle streets, taking some super-fun portraits- including fun with smoke bombs in the skatepark! These two were up for anything ad were great fun.

It’s such a fun idea to bring your bridesmaids and groomsmen out for a portrait session too, especially when there’s Paul Curtis murals, stunning Victorian carousels and smoke bombs to have fun with! It was an absolute highlight of the day for me.

Later on, after the lovely meal (they served halloumi, which makes it one of the best wedding meals ever in my book!!) we took the opportunity of the STUNNING golden sunset and had a wander on the docks. The light was INSANE!!! In true Liverpool style, the couple had so many congratulations from passers by, which always makes me smile- it really is the friendliest city in the world.

Ruth & Bailey wanted to take a little time away from the party to recharge, so we grabbed a cocktail at a rooftop bar opposite the Liver Building- who can resist a perfect photo opportunity accompanied by a tasty drink! Their guests waving from the balcony opposite was pretty hilarious too!

Before long, we headed back for the first dance, and the cutest daddy-daughter dance for Ruth and her dad. The playlist was fab, and the kids had a brilliant time sliding around the dance floor! They all ended the evening with a sparkler tunnel outside, before I headed off. Such a magical moment! Thank you so much for having me Ruth and Bailey. It was an absolute pleasure to be part of your day.

“Rachel these are just unbelievable!!! You have totally captured exactly what we wanted, laid back and fun vibes! Love them sooooo much!”
