Meeting Clary from Spark Clarity was one of those experiences that really shows the power of Instagram. We’d come across each other, chatted loads, and come to absolutely LOVE each other’s work. It really was a testament to KNOW, LIKE and TRUST. We’d become friends, formed a friendship, and built on that trust to form a working relationship too. Absolute magic! Her colourful personal branding shoot was an absolute dream to photograph, and I can’t wait to share the images with you!
Clary is a Canadian Accessibility Advisor, Speaker and Invisible Illness Advocate, who at the time of the shoot was living and working in lovely Liverpool. She herself lives with Fibromyalgia and Dyslexia, so the shoot aimed to capture Clary is all her glory, including the alterations she makes to her work to allow for her Fibromyalgia. We captured her working at her standing desk, as well as sitting. We captured her working alone and teaching a small group. We were able to capture Clary in a number of bright and beautiful outfits that make her feel her best, as well as in a number of locations around Liverpool, a city she had fallen in love with. We also did lots of the arrangements for the shoot using voice messages and video calls, as Clary’s dyslexia made written arrangements tricky. I pride myself on tailoring my shoots completely to suit each person’s individual needs- I want you to get the best possible results and love every minute of your experience with me!
One of the things Clary had mentioned to me, was that as a Black woman, she struggled to find stock imagery that represented her- most of the images of hands working for example, were white hands, and using these would be at odds with the authenticity and honesty of her brand. During the shoot we were able to create bespoke stock images; photographs that Clary can select from for almost any social media post she might want to create. This is one of my favourite bonuses of a Personal Branding Shoot- the ability to create an incredibly useful Content Bank to make Instagram and Facebook posts an absolute breeze.
Papillion, a stunning café in Liverpool which has more Insta-worthy backdrops than you can shake a stick at, served as the base for the shoot. Having an indoor base like this for your colourful personal branding shoot is perfect- not only can it serve as a photo backdrops in itself, it allows for easy outfit changes and a shelter in case of terrible weather! Fortunately, for Clary’s shoot, we were able to get out into the Spring sunshine and make the most of the colourful Liverpool Street Art- one of my favourite things to shoot!
