Sometimes I forget I live at the seaside, In my village of Churchtown in Southport, it couldn’t feel much further from the sea. And yet, less than two miles away, we’re lucky enough to have grand Victorian carousels, more colourful buckets and spades than you can shake a stick of rock at, and an amazing view of a glorious stretch of beach, albeit with a very distant sea.

So, as a Southport wedding photographer, its always super special when you get to shoot amongst the seaside splendour. Emma & James chose a fab seafront hotel for their chilled family wedding, and it was BLOODY BRILLIANT!

I’m so lucky to have AMAZING couples who are willing to have a laugh and take a risk. I mean how many brides would be willing to climb on board a carousel horse in their Jimmy Choos (the only choice when marrying your own Jimmy, isn’t that right Emma?). Or how about eating an insanely colourful ice-cream, with ALL THE SAUCE AND SPRINKLES in a crisp white, lace gown? But that’s what I love about Emma & James- they didn’t take any part of their day too seriously. The whole day was relaxed and super-chilled, just like them.

As love stories go, it doesn’t really get any cuter. The lovely pair have been together for SEVENTEEN YEARS! They have a beautiful house thanks to James’s skills as a builder, and two adorable sons, Jenson and Sebastian. During the speeches, Emma’s dad told of James knocking on the door and asking Emma out, and the best man showed some very nostalgic photos of their early meetings- resulting in huge laughs it must be said! Even after all that time, this lovely couple are clearly head over heels for one another.

Jenson and Sebastian were the focal point of the day, with little Seby even being christened during the ceremony. It was so lovely that the day was not only about the Bride and Groom but about the four of them as a family- though the boys were less than impressed with being covered in confetti! I feel almost like part of this lovely family now myself, having photographed a lovely lifestyle newborn shoot of Sebastian when he was only a few weeks old (which you can see here).

I had an absolute ball on their wedding day, from their lovely ceremony, to the awesome seaside couples portraits, the amazing food, casino and crazy, crazy dancing. These two now feel less like clients and more like friends. Absolute wedding photographer goals right there!
