So today I finished watching the 2009 adaptation of Wuthering Heights. I’m a sucker for a literary costume drama- not very rock and roll I know, but I can’t help it. This particular version was hammy as hell but hey, it has Tom Hardy as Heathcliff, looking all moody and brooding, and generally being a bit of a bastard, so it’s definitely worth watching! Anyway, it inspired me to finally blog about my AMAZING day at The Secret Retreat Fireside workshop back in November and their Wuthering Heights wedding shoot. And what a day it was! The weather couldn’t be much different to today’s- it was FREEZING. How our models nips didn’t freeze right off is beyond me! You’d never guess they were practically turning blue from the photos!!
Held at the stunning Ponden Hall, itself a real life haunt of Emily Bronte, it was just idyllically placed on the wild and wuthering Yorkshire moors, with wild and wuthering weather to match. Yorkshire is just so bloody beautiful- almost as beautiful as the company. I cannot express how wonderful it was to be surrounded by such incredible, powerful ‘Cathy’s’ for the day. Led by the amazing Claire Penn, Andrea Ellison, Melissa Love and Lucy Woodrow, the whole day was electrically inspiring. It was amazing to spend time with these wonderful like minded ladies for a day and pick their brilliant brains- I came away bursting with ideas, and ready to take on the world! I have so many ideas to implement in my little business!
Not only that, but as an amazing bonus, we got to photograph a beautiful ‘Wuthering Heights’ themed styled shoot with incredible suppliers, absolutely awesome flowers studded with pheasant feathers by Stems Design, which really complimented the amazing claret dress worn by the bride Casey. Casey’s hair and make-up was done to perfection by the fantastically talented Jenn Edwards who I have worked with before on this romantic Peak Distric Elopement style shoot and I think you’ll agree she looked incredible! Casey and her lovely husband-to-be Mark were amazing models, and so brave facing the incredibly cold and blustery weather. They are in love- it was a delight to behold! Casey is a wonderful fine artist, and you can see her work here.
Right I’m heading off for to finish the last of the Maltesers truffles before instantly regretting the calories! I’m sure Cathy Earnshaw didn’t have these kind of problems.
